In memory of Anna Lightfoot

Monday, December 5, 2016

6 December is Anna's birthday, but sadly she is no longer with us. As a memorial to her memory we planted this copper beech back in 1998 close to the library in Fowey where we lived, because as a countryside warden she loved working with trees. This first picture shows how small it was when we planted it, with the support of many of her friends who often put flowers there as a tribute to their memory of her.

Now it has grown wonderfully. This is how it looks now in 2016.

Here is the plaque.

  1. My wife and I visited Fowey earlier on this year and went to the library to pay our respects to Anna (our daughter used to play cricket with her at Royton CC), unfortunately we couldn’t find the tree. Could someone please help us, we plan on visiting again in May 2018.

  2. That's lovely to hear. Anna loved playing cricket and other sports. You can find the tree, now quite large, outside the library beside the path that leads to the car park, and facing the road. It has a plaque by it, as you can see above. Best wishes, Freda.
